Steve Weitzenkorn, The Edict and Shakespeare’s Conspirator Trilogy
Nicole has developmentally edited two of my novels and is in the process of editing two others, which are part of a historical fiction series. The quality of her work, attention to detail, and thoroughness are far superior to other editors I have engaged--of which there have been three. There is no comparison. She has an amazing ability to spot storyline issues and makes great suggestions for improving character development, plots and subplots, and the overall work--including offering thoughtful ideas for giving scenes an extra dimension. Beyond that, she is accessible, responsive, easy to work with, and keeps commitments,. Nicole has exceeded all my expectations. If you are looking for an editor who will help you elevate your writing to greater heights, I highly recommend Nicole. She is superb. On her homepage she writes, "Writing can be a lonely journey--so bring along a friend." Whether it's lonely for you or not, with Nicole, you'll bring along more than a friend. You'll also bring excellence.
Christina Lyon, The Woman in the painting
I wanted to hire an editor to help ensure my debut short story was up to industry standards. While I was initially nervous to share my work with an editor, Nicole alleviated all of my fears when we had our first call.
Since it was my first time working with an editor, I wanted to hire someone who would guide me through the process while providing actionable feedback and editing suggestions that I could follow. I was also too close to the story and needed a trusted second set of eyes to go in and do a thorough edit. Nicole exceeded my expectations! I learned so much from working with her that I now apply daily in my writing and editing practice. In addition to helping tighten the line editing and ensure every sentence was flawless, she also helped me add tremendous depth and layers to my characters.
And guess what? My story got published! As an emerging writer, I couldn't have achieved this important milestone in my writing journey without Nicole's editing mastery. Working with Nicole was truly enriching and I will continue to hire her as my editor for all of my stories because she is diligent, encouraging, objective, constructive, detailed, and just all around a fantastic editor. I am fortunate to have found her and can't recommend her enough!
Cindy Flowers, Grace From the Grave
As a new writer, I was reluctant to share my work with any stranger, let alone a professional. My worries were unfounded. Working with Nicole was such an enjoyable experience. Somehow she worked her magic and turned an intimidating process into an exciting journey. She provided detailed guidance and thoroughly explained every comment/suggestion. Nicole went above and beyond simple editing, as if editing could be simple. Without question, I will be RUNNING to her for all of my future works.
Spencer Margaret, 52 Lessons with Finn
Nicole is fantastic! She provided exactly what I was hoping for - actionable, easy-to-understand and implement edits that didn't change my manuscript's overall direction, voice, or message. However what I appreciate most of all was her approach - she was incredibly nice to work with and delivered all of her suggestions in a very professional and warm manner. She truly was an invaluable partner in strengthening my manuscript and I wouldn't hesitate to use her for future projects or recommend her.
Carolyn Dennis-Willingham, distilling secrets
Nicole went above board in her edit of my manuscript. Every area that needed work was detailed with a finely pointed pen - plot, characters, story arc, grammar (and more) - were addressed. The quality of her editing skills is top notch and I couldn't be happier with the outcome.
L. K. Churchill, Deliver Us
I can't tell you how happy I am that I chose Nicole for my editing needs. During the Developmental Edit she pointed out areas that fell short in the story and challenged me to expand where I could, especially when it came to character development. Her expertise and knowledge of CMOS was invaluable and it was as if she spread magic on my manuscript, transforming it from a good story to an excellent novel. Nicole was very responsive and available any time I needed her, both via email and phone. She set realistic timelines and expectations that were consistently met, and went above and beyond to ensure that I was satisfied with the final product. I would definitely recommend Nicole to any authors looking for an amazing editor.
Zachary Wilhelm, Matthew Haley’s Human Zoo
Right from the start, I was comfortable handing over my writing to Nicole. Through her communication and openness, it quickly felt as though I was having a trusted friend edit my manuscript. A friend that provided incredible feedback and revisions, which enhanced my story more than I could have imagined. It was truly a pleasure working with Nicole, and I will certainly be reaching out to her next time I am in need of an editor.
Paul Montag, Making a living
After working with Nicole as an editor, I can't imagine working with anyone else. She spun magic over my manuscript that I could never have achieved on my own, and she did it all in a very timely fashion, and was very pleasant to work with. I knew that some parts of my novel needed to come out, but I could never figure out which parts. Nicole knew, as well as crucial elements that were missing and needed to be added. I continue to be amazed at how well the book flows now. She has the uncanny ability to know when even good lines need to come out when that makes the book better. She is also an expert with CMOS. That combined with her incredible grasp of story coherence, character development, and pacing a novel has produced magical results. I couldn't be more pleased.
Heather Michelle, A Misplaced Hope
Nicole was wonderful! She offered advice that helped take my manuscript to the next level, and was careful to explain the reasoning behind things so I could learn and become a better writer in the process. 10/10. I am excited to work with her on my future projects!
J. Z. York, Pulse
Nicole was not my first editor, but she is my best. It’s hard writing a book, but harder still to hand it over to someone you hope will intuitively help shape it to its best form. Nicole listens. She reads carefully. She communicates clearly. She’d made my last fear disappear after our first exchange and helped move to the heart of the book I want, not the one I had. We’re already discussing my next series. I advise you to book early.
Jim E., Ashes
Nicole was professional, organized, helpful, and made excellent suggestions about the areas of my writing that needed work. She was particularly focused on character development and plot in fiction. She struck a good balance between encouragement and criticism, which I appreciated. I recommend her!
Michael Hostetler, Tara Lane
Working with Nicole was a great experience! She was able to quickly grasp the manuscript and provided great feedback on how to develop the characters and correct areas that lagged, along with fixing any grammar and formatting mistakes. I enjoyed working with Nicole and would absolutely work with her again.
Carrie Keith, Various Creative NONFICTION
Working with Nicole was such an encouraging and helpful experience. Not only did she clean up and polish my short stories, she managed my statement of purpose with precision and enthusiasm. I look forward to collaborating with her in the future and recommend her to anyone looking to move their writing forward.
